How to file if my parent claimed me as a dependent on their return
If your parent or another person claims you as a dependent on their tax return, you must indicate this in your tax return.
There is a question field within our system that allows you to indicate that you have been claimed by someone.
To locate this question
Enter the return, select Taxpayer Information
Within the Taxpayer Information page, scroll down to the Dependent indicator entry and select Yes
Once the page has been saved, you can view this change to your Form 1040 by using the My Forms feature to verify the Dependent indicator has been set
